How Chinese Tech Goes Global? Cloudpick × Japan LAWSON GO Delivers the Answer
Customer Requirements
With the “Go Global” strategy advancing, the Chinese government actively supports enterprises to expand overseas through policies such as credit insurance and tax incentives. At the same time, China’s complete industrial and supply chains provide stable and efficient production capabilities. Against this backdrop, how Chinese technology can successfully “go global” and take root in international markets has become a key question.
Focusing on the Japanese market, retail digital transformation is a complex, multi‑layered process. Consumers increasingly seek personalized experiences and higher satisfaction. The retail industry urgently needs data analytics to improve transparency, identify operational gaps, and increase revenue through pattern recognition and trend assessment.
Meanwhile, Japanese society faces serious challenges from an aging population and labor shortages. Retail must leverage digital transformation to adapt to market changes and maintain competitiveness. The Japanese government actively promotes digital transformation, issuing policies such as the “Comprehensive Data Strategy” and advancing institutional innovation in data ecosystems, trust frameworks, and cross‑border rules. Additionally, Japan launched a “Skill Reskilling” program, investing 1 trillion yen to support digital and green transformation in emerging fields.
Cloudpick Solution
Cloudpick leverages its AI‑driven smart solution — built on computer vision, deep learning, and multi‑sensor fusion — to partner with Japan’s LAWSON in creating the “LAWSON GO” cashier‑less smart store.
The solution requires no self‑scanning or RFID tags. Customers simply enter the store, pick their items, and walk out. Payment is completed automatically, delivering a true “grab‑and‑go” experience. At the same time, Cloudpick provides a digital management system that allows store operators to view operations in real time, order online, adjust prices, set promotions, and receive restock alerts — enabling remote store management from anywhere.

Cloudpick’s partnership with LAWSON began in 2022 with the first cashier‑less smart store in Shanghai’s Jingyao Qian tan. Since then, the two companies have successfully launched multiple smart unmanned stores across Japan — in Tokyo, Osaka, Hokkaido, Yokohama, and Hakusan. Smart retail is sweeping across Japan.
Tokyo · Tokyu Electric Railway “Futakotamagawa Station”
The LAWSON S Lawson Go + toks Futakotamagawa store became LAWSON’s first cashier‑less smart store in Japan. This smart store was created by a four‑way partnership between LAWSON, Tokyu Electric Railway, Tokyu Store, and Cloudpick, marking a major breakthrough in unmanned retail solutions.
As a long‑term franchise partner of LAWSON, Tokyu Store has integrated Cloudpick’s unmanned store solution, combining its franchise convenience store model with Cloudpick’s grab‑and‑go shopping experience. Tokyu Electric Railway Group — Tokyu Store’s parent company — owns premium commercial locations throughout Tokyo’s railway stations, providing unlimited possibilities for Cloudpick’s expansion.
Looking ahead, more unmanned convenience stores powered by Cloudpick technology are expected to appear in Tokyo’s railway commercial facilities, offering citizens and tourists a more convenient and modern shopping experience.
Osaka · Osaka Metro Nakamozu Station
Located at Osaka Metro Midōsuji Line’s Nakamozu Station, the “LAWSON S Lawson Go OSL Nakamozu Station Store” is LAWSON’s second cashier‑less smart store in Japan — and the first in the Kansai region!
Osaka Metro partnered with LAWSON and Cloudpick to launch this LAWSON smart store, aiming to shorten shopping time for commuters and students, improve operational efficiency, and create a simple, stress‑free shopping environment. Additionally, usage monitoring is paving the way for future store expansion.

Mr. Yamauchi Hiroshi, Director of ICT Planning, Retail Business Reform Department, said:
“In the future, we want customers to experience the convenience of Cloudpick’s AI unmanned store — completing their shopping in just 10 seconds. Next, we will verify how many users we can attract and collect the relevant data. Based on that data, we will select other locations and continue to open more stores from the perspective of results.”
